Premade pasta sauce save a lot of time in the preparation of this lasagna. The total prep time is about 20 minutes, and it takes 45 minutes to bake. Despite the total time of an hour, this is still the quickest homemade lasagna I have been able to find. Enjoy.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1 12 oz. package frozen spinach – thawed
- 2 jars spaghetti sauce
- 1 package (13.25 oz.) whole wheat lasagna noodles
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese shredded
- 15 oz. ricotta cheese
- 1T oregano
- 1T basil
- 1 egg
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.
Cook noodles according to package. Boil water in a large stockpot enough to cook all noodles together.
Brown turkey in a large skillet. Add onion. Sauté until onions are transparent. Add spinach and 1.5 jars spaghetti sauce.
In a small bowl combine ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, and basil.
Once everything is cooked and hot, layer into baking dish:
1/3 noodles – cover bottom of pan
1/2 meat sauce – spread evenly over noodles
1/2 ricotta cheese mixture- spread evenly over sauce
1/3 noodles – cover entire surface
1/2 meat sauce- spread evenly over noodles
1/2 ricotta cheese- spread evenly over sauce
1/3 noodles- cover entire surface
Top with leftover spaghetti sauce- spread evenly over noodles
Mozzarella cheese
And parmesan cheese
Cover lightly with aluminum foil. Create a tent rather than lay on cheese.
Place in oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and cook for another 15 minutes.
